International Day Against Child Labour

I attended the International Day against child labour program held at HASSS office, Conducted jointly by APCSON (Andhra Pradesh Civil Society organizations network) and HASSS (Hyderabad Archdiocesan Social Service Society) .

June 12th being the International day Against child Labour, APCSON and HASSS conducted an sensitization program on Eradication of Child labour for all the Sisters, sister superiors , brothers, Fathers and priests of parishes of Twin cities of Hyderabad under the Archdiocesan of Hyderabad. the objective strategy behind this approach is that Motivating and Sensitizing the chiefs of a religious community to impart the message of sending all children to schools will definitely make an impact as the message from a spiritual person is like a message from a god himself. This approach of spiritual social work is an efficient tool in countries like India especially where more than 99% of population are believers .

The Sensitization program was lively with active participation and attractive key note addresses from eminent personalities like The Most rev. Marampudi Joji , The Arch Bishop of Hyderabad & chairman HASSS , Dr. D.L.S. Prasad Project officer, ILO, Mr. A . Jagannadha Rao , joint Secretary APCSON.

Abhayam Meet

Today evening is one of the most memorable day for me for having been attended the abhayam meet ! "Abhayam" is a community of like minded youth working for the disadvantaged. The appreciable part of the community is that almost all the members , activists and volunteers are busy job holders , still they take time to helped these disadvantaged individuals !

Today evening meet agenda was regarding fundraising for sponsoring a talented young student who secured a top rank in the admission test to medicine. The meet went on for nearly 3 hours discussing various possible sources to sponsor the child. There was also a serious concern regarding options to increase membership of the community. However understanding the immediate need to raise funds for the identified clients, the membership drive and related topics were postponed for discussion for next meeting.
